Ontario Police Department officers shot a man already in a squad car after they failed to find a gun he'd hidden and he opened fire on them Friday afternoon, the department said in a news release.Officers were sent to a disabled vehicle in the 500 block of West Holt Boulevard near San Antonio Avenue just before 3:15 p.m., and when they arrived, they found 42-year-old Christopher Urena of San Dimas "acting erratically near the vehicle," the release said. Urena was wanted for alleged domestic violence, and when officers arrested him and put him in the back of a squad car, he pulled out a firearm he had "concealed on his person" and shot at the officers, who returned fire, police said.Urena, who "sustained a non-life threatening injury during the incident," stayed barricaded in the patrol car for several hours before he surrendered and was taken back into custody, police said, adding that they found a handgun at the scene. No officers or bystanders were injured. (KTXL) — It’s almost time to change those clocks again. Daylight saving time begins on March 12 and will end on November 5. When daylight saving begins, clocks “spring forward,” making the day 23 hours, causing the states that observe to lose an hour. Sunsets are later in the day after clocks spring forward.States that observe daylight saving time gain an hour when it ends, making that day 25 hours and causing clocks to “fall back,” triggering a season of earlier sunsets. Most of the United States observes daylight saving with the exception of Hawaii and Arizona, both of which observe permanent standard time. When is it OK to drive after consuming marijuana? California still observes daylight saving time, despite voters passing a ballot measure granting lawmakers the ability to stop the seasonal time changes. During the 2018 General Election, California voters approved Proposition 7, which would allow the state legislature to get rid of daylight saving time wi...Boebert announces she's going to be a '36-year-old grandmother,' praises high rural teen birth rates

When Hollywood's biggest names walk head to the Oscars on Sunday, they'll notice something a little different. The normal red carpet has done a color swap and it's now a Champagne color. On Wednesday, crews rolled out the new color, but it will be still referred to as the red carpet. Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel was on hand to assist with the rollout. He joked that the switch from red to Champagne showed how confident producers are that no blood will be shed this year, following last year's slap involving Will Smith and Chris Rock. Workers roll out the champagne-colored carpet for the 95th Academy Awards. March 8, 2023.This year's ceremony will be the third time Kimmel will have hosted. Days ago he revealed that he is "ready" if another slap were to occur but was choosy as to when he'd intervene. “If somebody comes up on the stage and slaps me? The Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce braved a stormy night Thursday to raise a glass to the town’s food and drink scene at its annual celebration at Testarossa Winery, putting a well-deserved spotlight on David Kinch, the chef and restaurateur who helped put Los Gatos on the culinary map.Rootstock Wine Bar’s Jim Foley, who is president of the chamber’s board, and Chamber Executive Director Catherine Somers led the crowd in counting off favorites — including a few no longer with us, like CB Hannegan’s — that displayed not only the varied flavors of Los Gatos dining but the camaraderie in the industry.“You all in the restaurant business look out for each other and take care of each other,” Somers said. Both Kinch and Testarossa’s Rob Jensen shared a story that exemplified that idea. You probably remember the terrible fire that destroyed Manresa back in July 2014. (KRON) -- Marijuana-impaired driving has been on the rise across the country. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the percentage of weekend nighttime drivers who tested positive for marijuana went from 8.6% in 2007 to 12.6% in 2014. However, the NHTSA study pointed out that "the presence of drugs does not necessarily imply impairment." Just how long does marijuana affect your motor skills or impair driving? Stanford University professor Dr. Keith Humphreys said the answer is a complicated one. "The challenge you have is that marijuana doesn’t mean one thing anymore," he told KRON4. "It used to be a typical joint was about a couple of hours, but I would never say that now."Humphreys explained how significantly the marijuana game has changed. Back in the 1970s for example, marijuana typically tested anywhere from 3-4% THC (the active ingredient of marijuana that has psychological effects). Now, many marijuana products test at a rate closer to 25%, he said....Reopening of historic John G. Lewis Memorial Bridge celebrated in Loudoun Co.

TOKYO (AP) — Japan on Saturday marked the 12th anniversary of the massive earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disaster with a minute of silence, as concerns grew ahead of the planned release of the treated radioactive water from the wrecked Fukushima nuclear plant and the government’s return to nuclear energy. The 9.0 magnitude earthquake and tsunami that ravaged large parts of Japan’s northeastern coast on March 11, 2011, left more than 22,000 people dead, including about 3,700 whose subsequent deaths were linked to the disaster.
