SAN FRANCISCO — Can you feel that? It’s pressure. And after the Warriors’ Game 5 win, it’s all on the Los Angeles Lakers. And they know it, too.Yes, the Warriors remain on the brink of elimination, but on Wednesday, in a game where Golden State had everything to lose, they played loose.More importantly, they played fast.It wasn’t the Warriors’ best basketball — far from it — but it was highly effective against this tight and plodding Lakers team.It shouldn’t have taken a four-time champion core this long, but the Warriors finally figured out that this series is little more than a game of attrition. And when the series is viewed in that light, the Warriors have a massive advantage going into Game 6.LeBron James — 38 years old and in his 20th NBA season — is tired.Anthony Davis took a seemingly innocuous hit to the head in Game 5 and needed a wheelchair to reach the locker room. Both should be expected to play in Game 6, but their efficacy moving forwar...Two-car crash in Martinez marks fifth fatality of 2023 on Highway 4

PARIS (AP) — French prosecutors are seeking to send former President Nicolas Sarkozy and 13 others to trial on charges that his 2007 presidential campaign received millions in illegal financing from the government of late Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi. After a decade of investigation, the French national financial prosecutor’s office announced its decision Friday to seek a trial. It’s now up to judges to determine whether to move ahead. In general, judges in France follow such prosecutors’ requests, though not always. The case is the biggest and most shocking of multiple corruption investigations involving Sarkozy. He has been convicted in two others. He denies wrongdoing in all cases. In the Libya case, he is charged with illegal campaign financing, embezzling, passive corruption and related counts.Sarkozy has been under investigation in the Libya case since 2013. The NCAA Football Rules Committee appears headed toward delaying Division III’s implementation of the new game clock rule for first downs for a year. The biggest rule change approved last month for 2023 will have the game clock continue to run when a first down is gained except in the last two minutes of either half. Previously, the clock stopped when a first down was gained and restarted on the referee’s signal. The rule will be used in the Bowl Subdivision, Championship Subdivision and Division II. It was put on hold in Division III after the division’s management council requested the Playing Rules Oversight Panel refer it back to the Football Rules Committee for further review.“I think delay a year is the most likely scenario,” Steve Shaw, national coordinator of officials and secretary-rules editor, said in a text to The Associated Press on Thursday.Shaw said Division III administrators and coaches want to see how the new rule affects games in the upper division...Supreme Court sides with ex-Cuomo aide, others convicted of corruption related to ‘Buffalo Billion’

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court on Thursday ruled for a onetime top aide to ex-New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and for others who were convicted of corruption related to an economic development project known as the “Buffalo Billion.”In two cases before the court, both liberal and conservative justices were unanimous in saying there were problems with the convictions. The cases are the latest in a line stretching back years that criticize federal prosecutors for overreaching in public corruption cases against state and local officials, as well as people doing business with government. In 2020, the high court threw out the convictions of political allies of former Gov. Chris Christie, R-N.J., over the “Bridgegate” scandal that involved four days of traffic jams on the George Washington Bridge. In 2016, the SUpreme Court threw out the bribery conviction of former Gov. LOS ANGELES (AP) — If you’re stumped for how to spend this Mother’s Day, consider relishing a good scare. Since the genre’s inception, horror movies have tapped into the psychological trauma and terror that can only come from a mother, and a number of recent films are embracing that time-honored tradition.Take, for example, Brandon Cronenberg’s “Infinity Pool,” which became one of the buzziest films to come out of this year’s Sundance Film Festival. It’s no surprise it was replete with disturbing moments. The director, after all, has surely learned a thing or two from his filmmaker dad and giant of the genre, David Cronenberg. In one talked-about scene, Gabi (Mia Goth) exposes her bare chest to James (Alexander Skarsgård) in an invitation to breastfeed, revealing a complicated tension between his actual mother and his understanding of Gabi as his new one. While the genre has often been dismissed as low-brow, Adam Lowenstein, a film and media studies professor at the Univ...STORY REMOVED: US–Film Review-The Mother
